Public education has had a significant impact on the person that I am today. Some of my fondest memories include being at schooling in my formative years. I became a Peel District School Board Trustee because public education has been part of every stage of my life. First, I grew up in the public school system. During this time, I experienced both the positives and the challenges of the system. Then years later, I witnessed my own children as they too moved through that very same school system. While there are so many positive experiences in our public schools, I saw how the ongoing issues, especially around equity, access, and inclusion, overshadowed the good.


I chose to step forward because I believe that public school boards have a responsibility to listen, lead, and make decisions that reflect the needs of students, families and communities they serve. Being a trustee allows me to help shape the policies, priorities, and funding decisions so that each and every child, regardless of race, background, gender, or circumstance, allows them opportunity to feel supported, valued, and be successful in a Peel school.


I strongly believe that when funded properly, public education provides the optimal education for every child. I am committed to working towards making this a reality for each child in a the Peel District School Board.
