I NEED YOUR HELP TO CONTINUE TO BE YOUR VOICE!
I am proud to seek re-election as a Peel District School Board Trustee, in Brampton Ward 7&8 because this work is not finished.
Over the past term, I have worked alongside families, educators, and community partners to strengthen communication, advance equity, and keep student needs at the centre of all decision-making. While progress has been made, there is still more to do.
I strongly believe that parents are the first teachers in a child’s life. My focus has been, and continues to be, ensuring their voices are heard in meaningful and consistent ways.
We also need to be honest about the realities in our schools. While many students are doing well, too many still face barriers that impact their learning and sense of belonging. Black, Indigenous, racialized, newcomer, and students with special education needs continue to experience inequities that require sustained attention and action.
Ontario has a strong foundation through the Education Act, the Accepting Schools Act (Bill 13), and the Anti-Racism Act, 2017. These laws are meant to support safe, inclusive schools and ensure public education works for every child.
At the same time, recent provincial direction such as the Putting Student Achievement First Act, 2026 is raising concerns about reduced local flexibility and the ability of boards to respond to community needs. Education is not one-size-fits-all, and schools need the ability to respond to their local realities.
If we are serious about student success, we must also support equity, protect parent voice, and strengthen local decision-making.
Since being elected, I have focused on:
- Advancing equity in practice
- Strengthening parent voice and partnership
- Ensuring accountability for student outcomes
- Supporting safe, inclusive schools
I am seeking re-election because there is still more work to do, and I am committed to continuing it with families, educators, and our community.
Parents deserve a voice. Students deserve success. Our community deserves leadership that delivers both.
I am ready to continue that work.
